Sandy Springs (formerly Hammond) is a newly incorporated city, as of December 2005, and a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. Located in Fulton County, Georgia, just south of Roswell, it is named for the sandy springs that still exist in the city as a protected historic site. Sandy Springs is Georgia’s eighth-largest city, with an estimated 2006 population of 85,771.

Downtown Lawrenceville is overflowing with history. Historically significant buildings in downtown Lawrenceville include the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse and Lawrenceville Female Seminary. Duluth is a popular and rapidly developing suburb of Atlanta, close to Interstate 85, which allows for a quick commute to Atlanta. It is home to Gwinnett Place Mall, Gwinnett Civic and Cultural Center, Arena at Gwinnett Center, Hudgens Center for the Arts and Red Clay Theater. It is also home to the Gwinnett Medical Center at Duluth, a 300 bed hospital constructed in 2006, and the Joan Glancy Rehabilitation Center located at the site of the old Duluth hospital by that name. Milton (population approximately 20,000) is an area of Fulton County, Georgia which became incorporated as a “city” (the only type of municipality in the state) on December 1, 2006. According to special legislation passed by the Georgia General Assembly in March 2006, and signed by the governor of Georgia in April 2006, it was created out of the entire unincorporated northwestern part of northern Fulton County, bounded by the cities of Roswell and Alpharetta on the south, and the counties of Forsyth on the east and Cherokee on the north and west.
