Happy 2013 Earth Day!!!

Today is Earth Day! It is so much more than just another holiday on the calendar. It is a worldwide environmental movement designed to increase awareness, as well as empower individuals and entire communities to take an active role in saving the planet. 2013 Earth Day’s theme is The Face of Climate Change, demonstrate support for environmental protection.

How can you get involved? Attend an Earth Day event.

Atlanta will play host to the second annual Atlanta Earth Day Cleanup Challenge on Tuesday, April 23, 2013. In order for all citizens to continue to enjoy our fair city as a wonderful staycation destination, it’s vital that we work together to plant trees; pick up litter and so much more. The Cleanup Challenge will take place at Centennial Olympic Park from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a rally to recognize volunteers from noon to 12:30 p.m. The rally – hosted at Centennial Park Amphitheater – will feature appearances by Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regional Administrator Gwen Keyes Fleming. Local non-profit agencies who are devoted to the environmental movement will also be on hand to increase awareness among rally attendees.

On Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m, EarthShare of Georgia’s 17th Annual Earth Day Party – Hosted at the King Plow Arts Center in Atlanta, this event will feature music, dancing, and food by Bold American Catering. Guests will also enjoy the Eco-friendly silent auction, showcasing Eco-products, vacations, jewelry and more.
